PORTLAND -- Police said they have safely located Joe Chin, a man who was reported missing earlier this week.
Chin's family said he has been completely out of contact with friends and family for over a week. On Wednesday, police asked for the public s assistance in their search for the 41-year-old man.
Chin s sister Wynter Lewis spent Tuesday waiting for a call from her brother. It was his birthday.
It s been a really hard day, Lewis said tearfully during a Tuesday interview. My dad and I have been waiting for a call. I ve never not heard from him on his birthday.
Police described Chin as a white male, five-ten, 200-pounds, with very short or shaved brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a Yankee's baseball hat and T-shirt.
Chin was seen Sunday night at The Ranger Tavern in Portland s St. Johns neighborhood. Chin spent the night at a friend s on the 4100 block of North Wabash Avenue. He left the home Monday morning and hasn t been heard of since.
Adrian Miller was one of the last people to see Chin.
Yeah, he was fine, Miller said. Everything was fine with him. He was in good spirits, laughing and joking.
However, Chin s friend Kevin Winborne was concerned.
My gut is telling me that something is wrong, Winborne said. It's not like him to not turn his phone on and not be in contact with at least one friend or someone to know where he's at.
Portland Police safely located Chin on Friday, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland police.
