EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Cottage Grove police have arrested a 46-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man found bleeding from a chest wound outside a mobile home park.
The Register-Guard newspaper reports that Willy Lee Beaty was found walking near the scene not long after police and paramedics arrived late Friday.
A police report said the Lane County 911 center received a call of a stabbing shortly before 9:30 p.m. The caller said the assailant was a person named Willie.
The victim, 46-year-old Samuel Scooter Hunt, was found collapsed in the road outside the mobile home park on Highway 99 North. He later died at Cottage Grove Community Hospital.
An autopsy is set for next week and the investigation is not over.
