VANCOUVER -- Six teenage girls have been accused of causing $10,000 worth of vandalism damage at two Battle Ground homes.

On Saturday, a vacant home on the 1300 block of Northwest 11th Street was found vandalized. The home had recently been sold. The interior walls, fixtures, carpets, and doors had been spray painted. There were holes in walls and broken light bulbs, according to City of Battle Ground spokeswoman Bonnie Gilberti.

Detectives identified six teenage girls as the suspects. Five of them, aged 13 and 14, were interviewed by police and released to their parents. A sixth teenage girl was not immediately available for police interview, Gilberti said.

Police believe the same girls also struck a home in the 1200 block of Northwest 9th Street in Battle Ground on May 4.

All told, the damage estimate was around $10,000 at both homes combined, Gilberti said.

The girls will each be charged with one count of malicious mischief and one count of burglary for each home.
