CASTLE ROCK, Wash. – Two drivers were seriously hurt in a head-on crash along I-5 near Castle Rock Wednesday night, police said.

Angelina Puris, 63, of Centralia, lost control of her Nissan Sentra and veered into oncoming southbound traffic, according to investigators. Her car struck a Mazda MZ3 head-on and seriously injured the 72-year-old Robert Huling of Ridgefield, Wash.

Both drivers were transported to St. John Medical Center in Longview. Huling suffered a fractured sternum and fractured right ankle, according to trooper William Finn with Washington State Patrol.

Puris was transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Finn said she suffered two broken ankles, a dislocated and broken hip, bruising to the lung area, and facial injuries.

The crash also forced crews to close three lanes of I-5, near exit 49, for nearly four hours Wednesday night.
