SEATTLE -- A bone dated from the Ice Age has been found in South Lake Union.

Burke Museum paleontologists were called to investigate something unearthed by construction workers.

Paleontologists just released a statement saying they are confident it represents a tusk from an Ice Age mammoth.

The bone is on private property, so it s up to the landowner to decide what to do with it.

Woolly mammoths went extinct thousands of years ago, but were prevalent in a region stretching from Siberia to North America.
