PORTLAND Portland residents and visitors often stand in lines that snake around city blocks for a taste of Voodoo Doughnut s creative creations. Now, patrons may have some pastry-themed music to listen to while waiting for their maple bacon bar fix.
Voodoo Doughnut announced they will be officially launching a record label January 30. According to the website, Voodoo Doughnut Recordings will give artists 100 vinyl records to sell, promote the band and offer generous royalties.
But there is a catch. Records will resemble giant doughnuts, and half the songs on each album need to reference fried dough.
We aren t looking for jingles so much as great songs that enhance global doughnut awareness, the website says.
The label s first single, It ain t no cupcake (Workin at Voodoo Doughnut) by The Doughnut Boys, is set to release this January.
Bands who are interested in joining the Voodoo Doughnut Recordings should submit finished tracks or demos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
