VANCOUVER -- A Vancouver man is being held on $75,000 bail after police said he had sex with an underage girl he met on Facebook.
Juan Diaz-Velazques, 34, was in court Tuesday and charged with commercial sex abuse of a minor and child rape. His bail was set at $75,000.
On Monday, the Vancouver Police Department's Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit searched a home in the 200 block of Northeast 148th Avenue and arrested Diaz-Velazques, police said.
An investigation began in December of 2012 when Clark County deputies responded to a report of a 15-year-old rape victim at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, said Kim Kapp of the Vancouver Police Department.
Police believe Diaz-Velazques set up a fake Facebook profile to talk to young girls and encouraged them to have sex with him for money.
Diaz-Velazques met the girl and drove her to the home on Northeast 148th Avenue in his pickup truck. He provided her alcohol, had sex with her and then left her in a grocery store parking lot, Kapp said.
Velazques will be back in court on Friday.
