PORTLAND An estimated 12,000 customers lost electricity in Northeast Portland and another 3,000 saw outages in Clackamas County Thursday, but power was restored just after 11 a.m.
Concordia College was closed during the outage, but was expected to reopen by 1 p.m. Power was also out temporarily at Irvington, Alameda, Faubion, Sabin and Vernon schools.
Portland International Airport was running for a short while on backup generators, but no flights were affected.
Part of a tree fell on a substation near Northeast 19th Avenue and Northeast Prescott Street, according to a Pacific Power statement.
Trees were down all over the Metro area and minor flooding slowed the morning commute throughout the Metro area.
Look out for a blustery day Thursday, said KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard. Portland and valley winds will be around 20 to 30 mph, with steady rain throughout the day.
