GRESHAM, Ore. -- A firefighter fell through the roof while battling a blaze at a Gresham home Monday, authorities said.

The home is located in the 200 block of Northeast 197th Avenue.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the firefighter but said that his injuries did not appear to be serious.

He didn't go to the hospital, said Battalion Chief Jason McGowan.

There were no other reported injuries connected to the house fire.

Authorities said the home was vacant.

There have been transients living in it, said neighbor Michele Davidson. I think the homeowner should be held responsible for not keeping the home in a manner in which people wouldn't get hurt.

These houses pose a problem for us because we never know what sort of shape they're in when we get inside, McGowan added.
