PORTLAND -- A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash early Friday on the approach to the Broadway Bridge in Portland, police said.
Responding officers and medical personnel found the rider dead about 2:30 a.m. on the Interstate Avenue MAX tracks under the ramp to the bridge, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
The rider failed to negotiate the first curve on the ramp, struck the concrete barrier and was thrown an estimated 140 feet, landing on the MAX tracks below, Simpson said.
The 40-year-old rider's name was not released.
MAXYellow Line service was temporarily disrupted while police were investigating at the scene.
