MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) -- Police in Medford, Ore., say they've arrested a 44-year-old man accused of holding a woman captive for several days in a hotel room and assaulting her numerous times, causing extensive injuries.

Sgt. Josh Reimer said in a statement that the woman was able to escape the room Friday afternoon and asked the manager to call 911. She is being treated for her injuries.

The police spokesman says the woman had been in a domestic relationship with the man.

Reimer says the man returned to the hotel but drove off when police tried to stop him. The fleeing man wrecked his car and fled on foot, finally hiding in a utility trailer.

Reimer says Rodney Silva resisted arrest but was captured.

The spokesman says Silva was on parole in California and was wanted on two felony arrest warrants.

Additional details were not immediately available.
