PORTLAND - Investigators in Tigard raided two locations of a medical marijuana operation Thursday.
Washington County drug task force officers served two search warrants about 7 a.m. at a house on Southwest 63rd and a business called Grow America on SW Pacific Highway, which also contained a medical marijuana dispensary.
Officers pulled 21 plants from the home s backyard and more than 200 starter and small plants inside, along with and about 20 pounds of pot ready to sell.
The owners have a license for medical marijuana that allows them to sell to specific program card holders, but deputies believe they violated the law.
Deputies said the couple that lives at the home and operated the dispensary were selling marijuana to anyone with a medical marijuana card. Investigators said they have reason to believe that in past year the dispensary took in more than $1.7 million in sales.
You have to be a grower for a specific person and the law is not designed just to have a storefront where people can come in with a medical marijuana card and buy medical marijuana from them , Sgt. Bob Ray said.
No arrests have been made in the case.
I ve never known them to do anything illegal, one patient named Marie said. I just am absolutely shocked that they are shut down.
