PORTLAND -- A memorial will be held in Battle Ground for the snowboarder who died after crash-landing an aerial maneuver in a freestyle park at Mt.Hood Meadows last weekend.

The Hood River County sheriff's office says Joshua Halberg, 19, of Battle Ground, was rushed to Hood River Providence Medical Center and then as crews were working to transfer him to a Portland hospital, he died on the way.

Family members told KGW Halberg was from a large family - with 16 siblings. They were planning a memorial for him at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Battle Ground for Thursday at 1 p.m.

Halberg had attempted the aerial maneuver in an area of the ski resort called Park Place.

His was the third death at Mt Hood Meadows Ski resort this year.
