SALEM -- A Salem woman's former boyfriend was charged with attempted murder after he attacked her with a baseball bat, police said.

Police were called just before 8 p.m. to the report of an assault inside a home in the 3300 block of Homestead Road.

The 23-year-old woman was attacked with a bat as she arrived at the home and she managed to escape by jumping out a window, said Lt. Steve Birr of the Salem Police Department.

The victim's ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Landis Provancha, was arrested in connection with the attack. He faces assault and attempted murder charges.
