PORTLAND -- Pockets of heavy raincontinuedTuesday morning in the Metro area, following heavy overnightrainin the Cascades andmuch of the Willamette valley.

Windy and cooler than normal conditions very similar to Monday were likely, according to KGWMeteorologist Nick Allard.

A few showers were expected Tuesday afternoon, with partly to mostly cloudy skies andtemperatures reachingthe low to mid-70s, Allard said.

So far, .92 inches of rain have fallen in July, already surpassing the .72 average for the month.

Sunday sets rain record

Record rainfall fell in Portland last Sunday.

The .67 inches that fell beat the old record of .64 inches for a July 17th, set in 1993. For the month, .90 inches of rain has fallen, while normal is .72 inches.

Sunday was the 10th-wettest July day ever. The rainiest ever was July 9, 1995, when 1.06 inches fell. On July 19th, 1983 and July 8th 1946, Portland saw .89 inches of rain.

Sunday was also the wettest day since May 15, when .75 inches fell in Portland.
