MADRAS, Ore. -- The daughter-in-law of late Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman was arrested Monday on several sex abuse charges, police said.

Melissa Bowerman, 43, is the head track-and-field coach at Madras High School. Investigators got a tip earlier this month that she had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old member of the track team, said Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.

Bowerman was arrested Monday at her Fossil home and charged with second-degree sexual abuse, luring a minor, online sexual corruption of a child and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor.

The alleged relationship had been going on since May, Hastings said. Investigators believe there may be more victims.

Bowerman's husband, 76-year-old Jon Bowerman, told The Oregonian that police had a warrant to search his wife's cameras, computers and personal belongings.

He told the newspaper he was shocked by the allegations and he still loves his wife, no matter how things turn out.

In May 2012, Melissa Bowerman was dismissed as the volunteer Condon/Wheeler high school track coach after she escorted a 17-year-old boy to a prom.

She called that an error in judgment.
