President Barack Obama will visit the scene of the Oso landslide on April 22.
That s according to a spokesperson for Rep. Suzan DelBene, D-Wash.
The president declared a major disaster last week for the damage done by the March 22 slide. The declaration makes programs available to help individuals and businesses affected.
Governor Jay Inslee confirmed President Obama visit. Gov. Inslee said the president will meet with families, first responders and recovery workers.
From the earliest days following the slide, the president has closely monitored events in the area and shown his concerns for the victims and their families, Gov. Inslee said in a statement. He and his team have been important partners in the response effort, and I believe this visit will strengthen those ties as we face the tough work ahead.
The death toll rose to 34 on Tuesday morning. Four of those victims have not been identified.
Twelve people are officially listed as missing.
