BANKS, Ore. -- A man was sentenced Tuesday for his naked attack on a Washington County hunter that left the victim with two dislocated shoulders.

Linus Norgren, 22, was convicted of attempted murder and second-degree assault.

Investigators said Norgren was naked and yelling about Sasquatch when he beat 58-year-old Jeff McDonald with a rock and strangled him with a shirt. McDonald was eventually able to hold Norgren at gunpoint until police arrived.

According to OregonLive's coverage of the court case, Norgren told the jury he didn't mean to hurt McDonald but he has a bipolar disorder which made him feel like he had to fight to defend himself. The jury rejected Norgren's self-defense claim.

Norgren was sentenced to 10 years in prison and must pay a $25,000 fine, which will go to the victim.

As for McDonald, doctors worried that he might lose an eye, but his wife told KGW her husband was recovering well. She said he had to go through months of physical therapy for shoulder injuries suffered in the attack.
