PORTLAND -- Portland Community College is among 265 schools in which students are more likely to default on their loans than to graduate, according to a USA Today study.
PCC is one of ten colleges that made the list. The graduation rate was 14 percent, while 18.5 percent of students defaulted on their loans, the study showed.
ITT Technical Institute of Portland just barely made the list, with a 34 percent graduation rate and a 34.1 percent default rate. But there were 44 other ITT campuses on the list.
At Southwestern Oregon Community College, the default rate of 30.7 percent more than doubled the graduation rate of 14 percent, according to the data.
Six other Oregon community colleges made the list.
The graduation and loan default rates were taken from the 2009-2010 school year.
