TURNER, Ore. -- Dozens of animals were returned to the Willamette Humane Society in Salem Saturday after flood waters forced an evacuation there days before.
Workers had to find dozens of temporary homes for the animals.
The WHS emailed volunteers asking them to temporarily take cats and dogs into their homes. It only took an hour and a half for volunteers to clear out the shelter.
Those volunteers returned the pets Saturday.
One foster parent said she was amazed at all the support for the animal shelter.
There were people pouring in here and to pick up animals, said Jean Mattison, so it was a pretty cool thing to see.
Another said he couldn t let his foster pet go.
We kept him for a night and he's little bit too cute, said Ryan Somerville, so we're going to adopt him.
A total of 85 pets were temporarily adopted from the shelter.
