PORTLAND -- Temperatures hit a record-breaking 90 degrees in downtown Portland Thursday afternoon, breaking the previous record of 85 degrees.
The previous record was set in 1998, said KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino.
At Portland International Airport, the temperature cracked 89 degrees, breaking the previous record of 85, Zaffino said.
Anyone looking for a way to stay cool should head to the Oregon Coast, KGW Meteorologist NickAllard said, where higher winds will keep temperatures in the 70s instead of the 80s.
Temperatures will cool down across the state on Friday. Allard said to expect temperatures in the 70s, with cloudy skies.
We could even see a few sprinkles by the end of Friday, especially at the coast. Then this weekend we'll drop into the 60s with showers Saturday afternoon and more through the day on Sunday, Allard said.
