PORTLAND -- A man died early Tuesday morning in a high-speed crash on Southwest Barbur Boulevard. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene about 2:45 a.m. and found the driver of a Prius dead, according to police.
Quinn Stephen Sivage, 27, struck a median and 450 feet later, demolished a bus shelter on the south sidewalk, said Portland police Sgt. Todd Davis. The car continued on, striking a building, sliding sideways into the back of a Chevrolet Suburban, which then hit a U-Haul truck.
A witness told KGW that sparks were flying everywhere as the car was careening out of control.
Speed was a factor in the crash, police said. Investigators had not determined if Sivage was impaired in any way.
We gotta slow people down on Barbur, Davis told KGW. I mean just off the top of my head, this is the second or third one I ve taken on Barbur this year or close to it. We gotta slow people down.
