PORTLAND -- A driver was arrested for allegedly crashing into an insurance office in Northeast Portland early Wednesday and then fleeing the scene.

Investigators believe a car smashed into the Pacific Insurance building at Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Emerson Street just before 1 a.m.

The windows of the building were busted out and shattered glass covered the ground.

The driver took off but police tracked down a suspect hours later. Aaron Smith, 31, faces several charges, including reckless driving and failure to perform the duties of a driver.
