BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A dog in a crate inside a Beaverton home was saved after the home caught fire Friday afternoon, fire officials said.
Fire crews were called to the fire at Southwest 138th Avenue and Walker Road just before 12:30 p.m., according to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue spokesman Walt Peck.
Firefighters found an upstairs bedroom engulfed in flames when they arrived. A dog inside the home was pulled to safety and Peck said the dog was very upset, but very much alive.
There were no reports of injuries, but three people were displaced by the fire. The second floor of the home was extensively damaged. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
Firefighters were starting to see an increase in brush fires and structure fires over the last week. Officials warn that extremely dry and warm conditions could lead to an early start to wildfire season.
