SALEM Two young women were reportedly groped in Salem Friday night and police are searching for a suspect.

A young woman was walking on 15th Street NE and D Street NE just before 10 p.m. when she said a man approached her and grabbed her sexually, according to Lt. Dave Okada of Salem police.

The woman was able to fight the suspect off and run away.

Around 20 minutes later, a 15-year-old girl reported that a man came up behind her and knocked her to the ground in the 2400 block of Fisher Road NE, Okada said.

The suspect ripped the teen s shirt but she was also able to get away.

Both women said the suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

Salem police are investigating the incidents and are not yet sure if they are linked.

Okada said it would be possible for someone to get from the first scene to the second if he were to drive.
