GRANTS PASS, Ore. Francis Weaver, the stepson of the infamous Oregon killer Ward Weaver, faced murder charges of his own in court Tuesday.
Francis Weaver is accused of murdering a Grants Pass man during a drug deal that went awry.
He pleaded not guilty to the felony murder charge Tuesday.
Investigators believe Weaver, 43, and two others were trying to steal marijuana from Edward Spangler when they killed him.
The Weaver name is well known in the Portland Metro area for frightening reasons. More than a decade ago, Francis stepfather, Ward Weaver, murdered two Oregon City girls and then hid their remains in his yard.
Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis were friends with Ward s daughter and Ward lured them into his home separately, then killed them.
Years before that, Ward Weaver s father was convicted of killing two people and burying their remains outside his Calif. home.
As for Francis Weaver, his next court date has been set for April 16th. His two co-defendants in the Spangler murder have also pleaded not guilty.
