BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Police have released the name of the man shot by officers Tuesday during a domestic disturbance call.

Officers were called just after 1:30 p.m. to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 15000 block of Southwest Bridle Hills Drive, said officer Mike Rowe with the Beaverton Police Department.

Police at the scene were confronted at the front door by 28-year-old Herbert Rabago, who was armed with a large knife and charged toward an officer, Rowe said.

This officer had no choice but to use deadly physical force to protect his life and the life of others in the area and fired his duty weapon, striking Rabago, Rowe said.

Rabago was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries.

The officer involved, Jeremy Shaw, is a 10-year veteran of the Beaverton Police Department. He was put on on paid administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard any time an officer uses deadly force.
