VANCOUVER Snow, ice and cold weather played havoc with morning commutes in Clark County Wash. on Friday.

Police closed on and off ramps due to crashes and tow truck dispatchers were so backlogged that some told police not to even bother calling for tows.

Dangerous road conditions on Interstate 205 drove traffic onto surface roads where Southeast 164th Avenue at State Road 14 was bumper to bumper all morning.

At a nearby transit station buses were running late and riders got cold.

But not everyone was vexed.

Surface roads were slippery with ice and small fender benders were common.

At noon the National Weather Service canceled its weather advisory but many roads continued to have moisture by the early afternoon.
