PORTLAND The man who drove his car into the Columbia River Friday morning was issued multiple citations after a joint police and fire department investigation.

Joshua Peter Tonder, 27, of Burlington, Wash., was arrested Friday after he crashed his Jeep Grand Cherokee into the Columbia River and spent nearly four hours hiding in the water.

Tonder was issued citations for hit-and-run, driving while suspended, driving uninsured, attempt to elude and reckless driving.

Tonder was being treated for hypothermia at the hospital.
