EUGENE, Ore. -- The co-owner of a Eugene restaurant has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a pedestrian struck by a car.
The Register-Guard reports 33-year-old Kiyallah Li Heatherstone of Fall Creek also is charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
Springfield police at 2:36 a.m. Saturday responded to Highway 126 Expressway and 52nd Street to investigate the death of 24-year-old Springfield resident Travis Alverson.
Police say Heatherstone was behind the wheel of a car that struck Alverson in or near a crosswalk.
Heatherstone is co-owner of Rye, a Eugene restaurant.
