MILWAUKIE -- A DUII suspect reportedly crashed his pickup truck, then fled into the home of stranger, police said.

Neighbors heard a loud crash about 6:15 a.m. Sunday morning near Southeast 34th Avenue and Sellwood Street. Someone had created two-blocks of damaged property.

A Dodge crew cab pickup had crashed in the 11600 block of 34th then continued through a roundabout on Sellwood, running over signs and yards before coming to rest in a hedge past Washington Street.

The driver then fled on foot. As police investigated the crash, a family on SE 35th reported a stranger hiding in their home.

The suspect had entered through an unlocked back door without disturbing the sleeping family. A barking dog woke everyone up.

The suspect was hiding in the garage. The family locked him in. Police arrived and arrested him.

Aaron S. Christensen, 31, was accused of DUII, hit and run and first-degree criminal trespass. He was also driving with a suspended license.
