NEWPORT -- Heavy rains and high winds have slammed the Oregon and Washington Coasts.
Along Highway 101 near Lincoln City, huge trees fell on a trailer home and also on power lines. One person inside the trailer, but his injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.
U.S. 101 at Seaside was closed in both directions Monday morning due to several patches of high water and at least one landslide. Some vehicles with very high clearance were allowed to access the flooded area.
A semi-truck rollover closed the Astoria-Megler Bridge around 11 a.m. Drivers were detoured to an alternate route. The highway was also closed north of Gearhart to repair downed power lines.
In Newport, metal roofing was ripped from an Izzy's restaurant. Trees were down along Highway 18 enroute to Lincoln City.
Power was out in downtown Cannon Beach. A large tree came crashing down on a house in Cannon Beach as well. The people inside were sleeping when it hit, but no one was injured. They said the tree smashed into the living room, but the bedrooms were not damaged.
Elsewhere, a power failure closed Neah-Ka-Nie schools for the day.
The Coast Guard has closed the bar in Astoria, Tillamook, Depoe Bay, and the Umpqua.
A 98-mph wind gust was recorded overnight at Yaquina Head near Newport.
