PORTLAND -- The Portland Winterhawks are one game closer to being the Western Hockey League champs after a big win in front of a sold-out crowd at the Rose Garden Sunday night.

The Hawks leading scorer Ty Rattie was back in action after missing the last game against the Oil Kings in Edmonton.

He scored the first goal in a big second period. Portland went up 3-1, and then tacked on a fourth goal.

The Hawks held off a late Edmonton rally to beat the Oil Kings 4-3.

Portland now leads the series two games to one, with game four Monday night at the Rose Garden.
