PORTLAND -- Portland has broken the record high temperature for the second day in a row.
Monday afternoon, the temperature reached 81 in Portland, burning off the previous record of 79.
The National Weather Service has issued an alert for late afternoon and evening thunderstorms. The alert applied to the Portland area, SWWashington and the Willamette Valley.
Portland reached 82 degrees Sunday, toppling the old record of 79 degrees set back in 1982.
Saturday's high temperature of 75 degrees was the first time PDX topped 70 degrees this year.
Before this weekend, the thermometer had not hit 70 since October 18, according to KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard. The warmest so far this year had been 68 degrees.
March was the rainiest March ever recorded at PDX.
