DILLEY, Ore. -- High water was causing problems on Washington County roads Friday and was expected to continue into the weekend, the county announced.

A flood warning was issued for the Tualatin River, near Dilley, as water levels rose to minor flood stage Friday afternoon and more heavy rains were expected.

If you need to provide high water protection for your home, many public agencies in Washington County have free sand and sandbags available, said Kim Haughn with the Washington Co. Dept. of Land Use and Transportation.

Haughn said area residents should also prepare for driving problems, such as isolated street flooding, limited visibility and reduced traction.

Never drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway, she added. Even a foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.
