Harry Truman was an icon of the northwest even before the Mt. St. Helens tragedy. He lived his life at the foot of the great mountain and defiantly stayed at the Spirit Lake lodge, spinning his tales of mountain life to the writers and reporters, until the end. He soon became world famous for his stories and his grit. But Harry persished in the cataclysm, buried along with his beloved Spirit Lake and the lodge. Reporter Walden Kirsch tells us his story.
