PORTLAND A new dog mayor is in town.
The competition was neck-and-neck, but Vizsla Scout has been named the first Dog Mayor of Portland in DogTV s My Dog for Mayor! campaign.
Scout beat out finalists Tater, a Labrador retriever, and Jobey, a golden retriever to take the title.
Scout is a true canine Boy Scout, with boundless energy, strong leadership skills and the ability to sniff out danger (or, just birds and food), said Jenny Russo, spokeswoman for DogTV. He is a proponent of outdoor activity and has even succeeded in getting his mother to run three miles every day.
The mayoral race was open to dogs of all ages, breeds and beliefs, Russo said.Dog mayors were elected in 100 cities across the country.
Scout will receive a free six-month subscription to DogTV online and a one-month subscription to PetBox. And, of course, eternal glory as Portland s first canine mayor.
