WOODLAND, Wash. One person was killed and two others injured in a crash in Cowlitz County Tuesday night, police said.

Investigators believe a car driven by Christopher Beacock, 28, Woodland, Wash., failed to make a corner and tumbled 60 feet down a hill.

Witnesses told police the Ford Mustang was speeding when it left the road in the 800 block of Insel Rd. just before 11 p.m.

Beacock died at the scene, deputies said. Two passengers in the car, identified as Matthew Hance, 25, of Battle Ground, and Nicholas Ackerill, 33, of Ridgefield, were taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

The friends had just left Beacock's home in Woodland, less than a mile from the accident scene. Investigators were told that Hance owned the car and he was allowing Beacock to test drive it.

Rescue teams had difficulty reaching the vehicle, due to the steep terrain. Over 50 firefighters from both Clark and Cowlitz County responded, as well as Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office and Woodland Police Department.
