PORTLAND -- Traffic congestion on Highway 43 near the Sellwood Bridge is expected to get even worse this week.

Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., traffic will be down to just one lane from the bridge south to the entrance of the River View Cemetery. Flaggers will be alternating traffic on that one lane.

The closure will resume Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Then again on Saturday and Sunday, construction crews will be working around the clock and traffic will be down to just one lane.

It's all part of replacing the 87-year-old Sellwood Bridge. A water pipe is being moved and concrete will be poured for a portion of the bridge's foundation.
