He was charged Tuesday morning with three counts each of aggravated murder, first-degree burglary and felon in possession of a firearm. He was also charged with custodial interference, murder, unlawful use of a firearm and felon in possession of body armor.
Cavett was convicted of felony third-degree assault in Sept. 2007.
Prosecutors argued in the indictment that Cavett intentionally murdered his estranged wife during the course of a burglary. They also alleged that he knowingly and unlawfully took his daughter from her mother with the intent to hold her for a protracted period of time.
Cavett was held without bail and he postponed his plea as he awaits a new attorney. A trial date was scheduled for Dec. 4.
