GIFFORD PINCHOT NATIONAL FOREST The search resumed Wednesday for a Portland man missing on Mt. Adams since Saturday.

Kristopher Zitzewitz, 31, of Beaverton -- who goes by the name Indy -- was hiking in the Goose Lake area Saturday when he vanished, said Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox. Zitzewitz had been looking for caves with his partner, Caleb Richie, when they became separated. Family members told KGW that Zitzewitz was about to start classes at Portland State University.

Crews began searching for Zitzewitz Monday on foot, in ATVs and with K-9 teams. A helicopter was set to join the search Wednesday, weather permitting.

In a separate rescue effort on the same mountain, searchers were trying to pinpoint the possible location of 23-year-old Alejandre Wilson. She had been hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, headed toward White Pass, and failed to check in with her father as planned. Deputies were working to learn more about her location. The last time Wilson spoke to her father was on Friday, Cox said.

Tuesday night, a helicopter crew airlifted two other hikers off Mt. Adams after they got stuck in snow. Matt Margiotta and Kyla Arnold, were hiking the Pacific Crest Trail north of Trout Lake when they called for help.
