NEWPORT, Ore. -- A large broken water main shut down a road and sent two feet of water into one of Newport s biggest hotels.

Water was running into the Embarcadero Resort on Southeast Bay Boulevard Friday. Firefighters had a tough time stopping the flow of water because the valve that shuts off the water broke into pieces.

The water was eventually shut off Friday evening, and the hotel did not need to be evacuated.
