VANCOUVER -- A man posing as a contractor used a ladder to climb through the second-story window of a Vancouver home and stole between $6,000 and $8,000 worth of music equipment Thursday.

It happened near West 4th Plain Boulevard and Harney street.

A witness who was across the street said he saw the man who looked like a contractor make his way onto the roof of the home. The burglar even wore a work belt and used measuring tape.

The home belongs to Aaron Cain and Lisa Jackson. Jackson said the burglar likely made it through a second-story window she'd kept open in the stairwell.

I left my second story window a little cracked open because it's been hot and we honestly didn't think anyone would climb up or do anything of that nature, she said.

I can't believe someone would do this, it really hurts, everything that I am. It's terrible, Cain said.

The couple moved to the home only a few months ago. They said they moved there because they thought the equipment would be safe
