WEST LINN, Ore. -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Interstate 205 after he was hit by a driver who fell asleep and crashed into him Wednesday morning, police said.
Just after 5 a.m. 49-year-old Christopher Pearson, of West Linn, was driving northbound on I-205 in the Clackamas area when he fell asleep, said Lt. Gregg Hastings of the Oregon State Police.
Pearson woke up when his Jeep crashed into a guardrail, Hastings said. Pearson then overcorrected and went into the oncoming lanes, crashing into the motorcyle driven by 63-year-old Bruce M. Becker, of Vancouver.
Becker was taken by ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University with serious injuries. He was wearing a helmet.
Pearson was not injured. He was cited for careless driving.
