PORTLAND A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in Southwest Portland Thursday night, police said.

At around 7:30 p.m., 18-year-old Juan Bermundez was walking with his friend near Southwest 49th Avenue and Dickinson Street when they were approached by three juveniles in a minivan, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.

After an argument, two of the suspects got out of the minivan and assaulted Bermundez. One of the suspects stabbed him multiple times before they got back in the vehicle and fled, Simpson said.

Bermundez was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police tracked down the minivan nearby and arrested a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old suspect.

The 14-year-old was charged with attempted murder and assault, and the 15-year-old was charged with assault.

A 13-year-old was in the van but was not charged.

Police believe the attack was gang-related.
