BEAVERTON -- Police arrested Portland Timbers player Jose Adolfo Valencia Monday on an accusation of resisting arrest and interfering with a peace officer.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment at 300 NW Island Circle on reports by neighbors of a man and woman arguing, said officer Mike Rowe.
When officers arrived, Valencia was getting into a car to leave and refused to cooperate with police, Rowe said.
Details about the original argument were not available but Rowe characterized it as minor and not something that would have led to a domestic violence arrest. Valencia shares an apartment with the woman, Rowe said.
Had Valencia simply cooperated, he would not have ended up in custody, Rowe said.
Valencia, of Bogota, Columbia is an injured and inactive player this season.
