PORTLAND-- The winners of Portland's first Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon were announced Sunday and Olympian Kara Goucher, of Portland, was the winner among the women. Ryan Bak won the race overall.
Goucher finished with a time of 1:13:05, race officials said Sunday. Sheila Croft, of Redmond, Wash., came in second for the women with a time of 1:16:50 and the third woman across the line was Hallie Jansen of Portland. She finished with a time of 1:19:11.
Bak, from Bend, finished in first place at 1:05:26. Right behind him was Tibor Veigh, from Flagstaff, Ariz., with a time of 1:05:33. In third place was Kenya's Philemon Terer, at 1:06:05.
With an estimated 11,000 runners finishing the race, organizers said it was the largest inaugural half-marathon in U.S. this year.
