SCIO, Ore. - People in Scio returned to their flood-damaged homes Friday after a mass evacuation Thursday.

Homeowner Stephanie Bates arrived to find the house, which her brother lives in, had filled with water at least a foot deep.

Nearly 800 people were evacuated Thursday.

The inside and yard were covered in mud and debris Friday. Bates said the house flooded once previously - in the notorious flooding disaster of 1996.

Bates said she was dreading the cleanup and had enlisted help. No injuries were reported in the town.
