VANCOUVER -- A ninth-grade boy was arrested Thursday afternoon after he reportedly made threats to bring a weapon to school and shoot students at Skyview High School.

The boy showed classmates a website where he would get the weapon, according to Sgt Shane Gardner with the Clark County Sheriff's office.

The students recorded the threats and alerted the staff. School officials were able to get the boy to the office, where police were called. The child was taken to a juvenile detention center. He faces accusations of felony harassment.

That's really scary. Automatically I think of Columbine and how dangerous it really can be, so that freaks me out, a student told KGW. I feel safe at Skyview one hundred percent, but I'm hoping nothing happens like that.

Patricia Mattison,Communications Director for the Vancouver Schools said Thursday night that the school staff did everything right. She says the district has a zero tolerance for any threats like this.

An automated phone call was planned for Friday morning from the district to all parents who have students at Skyview, Mattison said. The call let parents know what happened.

She also said at no time was there a threat to students or staff at the school.
