PORTLAND Portland Public Schools and the Portland Association of Teachers returned to the bargaining table Thursday morning.
The two sides met with a state mediator in another attempt to agree a new contract. Some consensus was reached earlier on workload and health insurance, but now the sticking point is salary.
It s the first time the union and the district have met since Monday night s school board meeting, when students, parents and teachers rallied in support of the union. The board quickly wrapped up its business and walked out.
